Episode 26: Who’s Fuelling Hate

Channel 7 Spotlight

Channel 7 did a pretty good (if sensationalist) job of bringing the conversation about #detrans into the public domain. There were a lot of complaints from the TRA side about lack of balance (because 7 focused on regret rather than satisfied customers).

Channel 7 published extended interviews too. Be sure to check out the white-hot rage of TRA medico Ian Hickie contrasted with the calm concern of Jillian Spencer and the urgency brought by Dylan Wilson.

What is a woman? Claire Chandler asks in the parliament.

Mel Ferg “Apologises”

Latrobe City Councillor Melissa Ferguson issues the best apology possible:

"As stated in the arbiter's filing, in each case, the apology must [be] unreserved and reference that councillor Ferguson has engaged in misconduct by breaching the standards of conduct and clauses 1A, 1B, 2D, and 4, 1 of schedule 1 of the local governance and integrity regulations 2020 through her tweets about the LGBTIQA+ community."

Reem Al Salem

At the same time, I am aware that in other countries, some governments are charging ahead with amendments to their free speech laws that would stifle healthy discussions on sex, gender, and gender identity (amongst others), as well as adopt self-ID laws without considering recent evidence, including that produced by authority in the medical field.

Fuelling Hate

Trans Justice Project has released the Fuelling Hate Report, and it does indeed fuel hate. Posie Parker gets several name-checks. There is a whole section devoted to the sins of middle-aged women.

Of course the research was poorly conducted

It was based on a 3 minute self-report survey promoted to pro-trans networks. A small number of “bad faith” responses were excluded (in addition to others that were ineligible).

50% of trans responses were non-binary. It’s always worth keeping this in mind that in any survey of trans experience, the non-binary experimental ‘girls with short hair’ category will make up the bulk of responses.

The TRAs discover DARVO

But they have trouble applying in to the real world.

Examples of “hate” include microaggressions

There is no further breakdown showing how much of the hate was a microaggression versus how much was serious physical threats or harm.
