Episode 4: The Denouncening

Kit Kowalski and Edie Wyatt talk about the world of sex and gender from a gender-critical perspective, not just the culture war, but law, policy, activism, feminism and all the nonsense.

Welcome to the Dollhouse Episode 4 with Kit Kowalski and Edie Wyatt. Hold on, we’re going to denounce some things.

The Gender-verse

Billy, Billy, Billy

We start off with a chat about Billy Bragg, what the Twitterverse has to say about his brand of “allyship”, and the terrible tune that his fortune.

Let Women Speak (Is Anybody Listening?)

It’s been a rocky couple of weeks in Australia… Kellie-Jay Keen’s tour of our fair land has brought several politicians out of the woodwork.

Enter the Thunder-dome: Melbourne

We show some footage of the Let Women Speak protest in Melbourne. Let’s do what no mainstream media outlet is doing and listen to the women!

Some black-clad young men from the literal far-right turned up at Let Women Speak Melbourne. We have a chat about that, and dissect their story about why. (Sorry we aren’t going to link to the original source).

Leader of the Victorian Liberal Party has quickly consulted Wikipedia and Twitter to assemble a dossier to smear Liberal MP Moira Deeming and British Women’s Rights Campaigner Kellie-Jay Keen. The vote to expel Moira from the Liberal Party takes place on 27 March 2023, but either way she would keep her seat.

Battleground: Tasmania

Some Tassie politicians weren’t too happy about women talking about themselves for a few minutes.

Nick McKim (Senator & Co-Deputy Leader of the Australian Greens) & Cassie O’Connor (MP & Leader of the Tasmanian Greens) both took it personally that women assembled to speak about their bodies.

Nick and Cassie are a Tasmanian power couple, both being elected representatives in The Greens. Cassie has a transgender daughter. Using her influence as an elected representative, she posted this on Twitter:

In a similar fit of pique and privilege, Nick McKim took to the senate and used his position as an elected official to insult women:

What do Nick and Cass cost us taxpayers?

How much are these politicians paid to insult 51% of their constituents? In 2019, Tasmanian Senators and MPs both received $140k salaries.

Knockout: Canberra

Independent ex-Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe attempted to crash the Let Women Speak Rally in Canberra. She was prevented from physically assaulting Kellie-Jay Keen by security and then (it is not clear from footage how) ended up on the ground. She was carrying an aboriginal flag and shouting “you are not welcome”. This was reported in various ways by the media. Here’s the attempt from 9 News.

Victorian senators receive a $158k salary.

Battleground: Belfield

A small number of young people from Community Action for Rainbow Rights (CARR) staged a protest outside a Catholic church in Belfield.

A post shared by CARR (@carr.sydney)

Mark Latham MP was inside speaking to residents. Latham is evidently trying to mop up the disaffected Labor vote in this small, ethnically-diverse Sydney suburb.

Around 200 (mostly male) attendees exited from the church and swarmed the members of CARR. There were 2 arrests.

Keen to piggy-back off preceding events in Melbourne, ABC originally linked these Lebanese Catholics to the far-right (as per CARR’s statements). It seems that there are 2 groups active here - Christian Lives Matter and CARR, who actively oppose them.

The question is - do women’s rights campaigners want need to be involved here?

Australian Politics

Women’s Forum have asked the parties 4 simple questions about women’s sex-based rights. Here’s how they scored.

We can’t wait until The Greens, Labor and Liberal realise that women have the vote now…

Aunty in the Spotlight

Dear Jeff…

Aunty vows to stop calling women “anti-trans” instead opting for “anti-trans rights”. Where’s Paul Barry when you need him?

Call to Action!

The Joint Human Rights Committee is reviewing Australia’s Human Rights Framework. We need everyone to make a submission to this. The review is being lead by Josh Burns MP, who avoids saying the word “woman”.
