Between the Tweets

RedFem

We start off between the tweets discussing our recent Twitter space with Dr Jen Izaaksson and Hannah Berrelli: Feminism and the Far-Right. The space came out of some extensive purity spirals in feminist and Gender Critical circles on Twitter. Hannah and Dr Jen recorded the remainder of my prompt questions as an episode of their podcast, @redfem.

The Genderverse

IP Freely and the EHRC

The European Human Rights Commission have declared that they use a definition of “woman” meaning “biological sex”. Trans activists respond in the only reasonable way imaginable: by transporting 90L of their own urine to the office building and pouring it out…

… again. They did it again after the success of a similar action in September 2022.

Mainstream Media

SMH (Sydney Morning Herald, not Shaking My Head)

SMH reports on the case of Lauren Jeska, the trans-id male convicted attempted murderer who holds the women’s world record for Parkrun. SMH quotes Women’s Rights Network founder Heather Binning! WRN have drawn attention to males in women’s sport as part of their #SummerOfSport tweet campaign.

Rianne Wins Norway!

Stylish Norwegian, Rianne Vogels, has won a victory against her employer for unfair dismissal. She was fired for (among other statements) a satirical tweet likening FtM transition to corporate Lean-In corporate culture for women.

We salute you Rianne! Your victory helps all women in this fight.

Australian Politics

In Reem we trust

Reem Alsalem, UN Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women and Girls, has issued a statement referencing our situation in Australia and New Zealand.

Many women have contacted Reem to ask for her assistance, and we thank her deeply for shining a light on the silencing tactics used against us here.

Reem’s statement made pointed reference to Moira Deeming, and the ABC even asked for John Pesutto’s reaction. (He’s busy with the budget).

#OnlyMothersBreastfeed

We check in with the #OnlyMothersBreastfeed petition started by Jasmine Sussex (Ep 12: #DadsDontBreastfeed) and Women’s Rights Network Australia.

There’s a bit of discussion about whether it’s weird for men to be midwives.

Kit makes some unwise comments about nulliparous midwives (sorry!), mangles a story about the Chamberlain Family, and for some reason Edie has trouble recalling the name of Ignaz Semmelweiz.

We are still gobsmacked that there are men who fetishise breastfeeding. It’s most important to note that the quality of the male secretion is the absolute least of the red flags for this endeavour. Sexualising infants, disrupting the mother-baby dyad, denying the child the right to name reality and call his dad ‘Dad’.

The list goes on.
