Listen now | Kit Kowalski and Edie Wyatt talk about the world of sex and gender from an Australian gender-critical perspective, not just the culture war, but law, policy, activism, feminism and all the nonsense.
Edie and Kit, what are your views on Michael Bailey? I remember hearing an episode you did that mentions him but I can’t remember which one. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7xariaJn6I
I Think it would have been the week I wrote this monster of an article. You can skip through and find Baileys name and see that I said why he is no friend of feminists or child protection advocates. He actively lobbies for lighter sentences for sex offenders based on his theory the sexual assault and even child sexual abuse does not do a lot of material harm in terms of serious mental health outcomes for survivors. He also advocates for the release from prison of a convicted serial pedophile. I wouldn't let the man within ten foot of me politically, I don't see how Genspect can endorse him.
Thanks Edie, yes this is where I first read about Bailey being dodgy. I listened to the Genspect podcast with him and I thought some of his claims were a bit far out. But then listening to that Triggernometry podcast with Diana, she talks about Bailey being the victim of a very sophisticated hate campaign from transactivists, and that he has never done anything wrong- Interesting.
Just because someone is attacked by trans activists, doesn’t mean they are a good person. The moderates are so obsessed with their middle ground, they seem unable to actually look at the policy implications of someone’s own stance. It’s a bizarre way of doing politics.
