My Debauched Night Out With Dennis Noel Kavanagh: Edie Wyatt Tells All
Friend of the show Dennis Noel Kavanagh was singled out by Contrapoints for some of his tweets.
It seems like they always bring out the same 5 naughty gays and feminists on Twitter. Even Magdalen Berns (RIP) gets a tweet shown on screen. Surely, if there were a literal tsunami of transphobic bigotry on Twitter, there would be slightly more to screenshot. But there isn’t. A couple of ranty tweets, sure. But nothing like you’d find on https://terfisaslur.com/
Because we try to be both an entertaining and an evidence-based podcast we brought out the photographic evidence of Edie’s association with Dennis Kavanagh, transphobic bigot. Guilt by association, if not by deed.

Mainstream Media
Clarissa Bye of the Daily Telegraph has brought another 2 important stories to the light.
Maple Leaf House
Firstly, the results of an FOI by Labor MP Greg Donnelly into the number of children being treated at Maple Leaf House. Maple Leaf is a gender clinic servicing children in the Hunter and New England area. It’s important to remember that not only are these children isolated, but so are their parents. Parents are likely to have no frame of reference when evaluating the affirmation-only approach to childhood transition.
The FOI, by Upper House Labor MP Greg Donnelly, found 487 children and adolescents have been treated by Maple Leaf, an outpatient clinic of John Hunter Hospital, since it opened on April 1, 2021.
That compares with the long-running Gender Clinic at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, which was treating 132 minors as at September 2022 and 130 the year before.
ABC self harm
Clarissa Bye also delivered an article about the ABC’s promotion of self-harm, which we spoke about last week in Episode 7.
The story also brought in a 2nd post from ABCQueer, featuring a woman with a large decorative cutting on her back.
It’s a shame that ABC has taken the decision ‘to be cool’ rather than to protect girls.

We’re calling it The Great Misgendercide of 2023. Hopefully no people actually die from being called the correct pronoun or from hearing a previous name. It would be lovely if everyone learns a little bit of resilience as a result.
Kit mentions this article “The Four Horsemen of the Gender-Critical Apocalypse” as a good resource for anyone struggling with whether or not to use preferred pronouns. Remember - it’s your preference. If you want to use preferred pronouns for friends, that’s up to you. But you’re under no obligation to be friends with everyone… or even to evaluate whether they’re a good person before deciding. https://uncommongroundmedia.com/the-four-horsemen-of-the-gender-critical-apocalypse/
Australian Politics
The Greens motion before Inner West Council (Sydney) passes unanimously. It’s a motion against homophobia, transphobia and all kinds of things. But it focuses a lot on the now-discredited Safe Schools Program.
It also promotes a petition to bring in Self-ID into New South Wales.
Note the progression of astro-turfing here. Independent MP Alex Greenwhich has the self-id bill ready to go. To demonstrate ‘popular support’ and ‘widespread need’ an activist lodges a petition with parliament. Local Greens councillors push through a motion to promote this survey to the residents within the council area. Also to write to the Attorneys-General to express support for such a bill.
The motion was forwarded by Liz Atkins, who is non-binary, which we can ascertain from the sports jacket.

Return of the Phantom Penis
Journalist Bernard Lane has written this week about a recent study, claiming that trans people experience ‘phantom feelings’ in body parts that never existed.
It is yet another self-recruit survey of ‘trans and gender diverse people’, and it is being promoted by pro-trans outfit Trans Health Research -

Bernard Lane has dug into the study and found that the evidence wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
Young natal females, identifying as trans men, were prominent in the survey, but their reports of phantom breasts (24 cases) and phantom vaginas (49) were discounted by the researchers. (By definition, a trans phantom relates to anatomy that was never there.)
With this study, the authors are trying to draw a false equivalence between the feeling an amputee has about a missing limb, with the feeling a trans person has for a limb that was never there. Amputees feel sensation because of physical cells called nerves that can be stimulated, even when they are truncated. The term ‘phantom’ refers to the limb being imaginary, or feeling real but no longer being real. It does not refer to a ghost.
The term ‘phantom’ may actually refer to ‘fantasy’:
The researchers go on: “Our data indicated that if a phantom is present, it is more likely than not to have erotic sensation.”
